Federal League Games April 16th

The New York Knights rallied for 7 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to overtake the Pittsburgh Grays, 9-4.  Christy Mathewson had held the Knights to 2 runs for the first 7 innings, but in the 8th, the Grays' bullpen took the ball, and the Knights quickly took advantage of their subpar performance.  Last week's Player of the Week, Mule Suttles, shows no sign of slowing down with his 4 hit performance today.  At Penmark Park in Philadelphia, Walter Johnson threw a complete game victory over the visiting Jazz Kings.  Eddie Mathews' 2 run homer proved to be the game winner for the first place Liberty.  Finally, Judy Johnson and Dick Redding propelled the Pilgrims to a 7-2 win over the Senators.  Boston is still awaiting stars Willie Ways and Bill Monroe, and hope their return can propel them towards the top of the league.
