The St. Louis River Captains overcame a 5 run first inning deficit to defeat Dizzy Dean and the Detroit Model Ts in extras today. After starting pitcher Bill Holland was shelled in the first, Roosevelt Davis held the River Captains together, throwing 4 scoreless innings, before yielding to John Donaldson in the 6th inning. Meanwhile the River Captains kept chopping away at the lead, to force a 10th inning and eventual win. In Chicago, Joe "Iron Man" McGinnity and Leon Day dueled to a 1-0 victory for the White Bears, with the only score being a first inning Lou Gehrig homer. Cincinnati also managed a tight 2-1 win over the visiting Commodores.

Superman Pennington went deep and had 4 RBI at Navin Field as the St. Louis
River Captains beat the Detroit Model Ts in 10 innings 9 to 7.
Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings. St. Louis came out
on top in the 10th inning. Dobie Moore led off and he slapped a one-base
hit. Pennington stepped up to the plate and he doubled. Candy Jim Taylor
then laced a base-hit. Taylor took second on the throw. Bill Perkins
followed and he slapped a single. Tom Williams stepped into the box and laid
down a sacrifice bunt. Both teams finished the game with 14 hits.
The win was credited to Williams(2-1) who went 4 innings allowing 1 run. Dizzy
Dean(1-2) took the loss. He surrendered 8 runs and 12 hits in 9 innings.

Joe McGinnity tossed a shutout as the Chicago White Bears topped the Kansas
City Cattle Barons by a score of 1 to 0 at Schorling Park.
McGinnity(2-1) was very good in the win. He gave up just 7 hits and 1 walk in
9 innings improving his ERA from 2.50 to 1.67. Kansas City threatened in the
9th but their rally came up short.
Leon Day(1-2) was the losing pitcher. He allowed just 1 run and 3 hits in 8
innings. 'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.'
Kansas City's manager said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen
when I say they have to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'

At Redland Field, the Cincinnati fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Ray
Brown(1-1) finally bested his Nashville opposite, Nip Winters(1-1), by the
score of 2 to 1.
Cincinnati had 1 run cross the plate in the bottom of the 3rd inning. That
scoring would be all that was needed. After the 3rd inning, neither team was
able to score.
Slim Jones recorded the save, his 1st. Winters was charged with the loss. He
surrendered 6 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
