The Continental League President's office announced that Chicago is shipping off Phil Rizzuto and "Old Hoss" Radbourne to Kansas City in exchange for Satchel Paige.

Eddie Plank allowed Pittsburgh's manager to rest his bullpen, tossing a
complete game at Forbes Field as the Washington Senators lost a heartbreaker
to Pittsburgh Grays by the score of 4 to 3.
The deciding run was scored by Pittsburgh in the bottom of the 9th. Willard
Brown laced a one-base hit. Roy Campanella stepped up to the plate and he
slapped a base-hit. Two outs later Ernie Lombardi came to the plate and was
walked intentionally. John Ward followed and he doubled making Pittsburgh
victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Although they lost,
Washington did out-hit Pittsburgh 9 to 6.
Plank(3-3) finished the game allowing 3 runs in the victory. The loss was
charged to Chief Bender(0-3) in relief. 'I was a little good, a little bad
and a little ugly.' said Plank, 'I was just giving us a chance to win.'

Walter Johnson had a strong outing and Ty Cobb lofted one into the 'cheap
seats' and had 3 RBI as the Philadelphia Liberty topped the New Orleans Jazz
Kings by a score of 7 to 0 at Dodger Stadium.
Cobb had a big day against New Orleans. He doubled plating a run in the 3rd
inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 6th inning and stroked a
one-base hit in the 9th inning. Overall Philadelphia out-hit New Orleans 10
to 5.
Johnson(6-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. The losing
pitcher was Gaylord Perry(2-4). The Philadelphia ballclub's record now
stands at 19-15. With the loss, New Orleans has a record of 7-3 lately,
18-16 overall.

Ferguson Jenkins went 8 strong innings at Braves Field as the New York Knights
beat the Boston Pilgrims in 11 innings 6 to 3.
The score was tied at 3 after nine. New York came out on top in the 11th
inning. Billy Williams started the attack as he smashed a solo-shot out of
the park. Yogi Berra stepped into the batter's box and he reached on an
error. Lou Brock then lined a single. Three Finger Brown followed and he
laid down a sacrifice bunt. Home Run Baker stepped into the box and
delivered a one-base hit. Tony Lazzeri added his contribution to the rally
and grounded into a double play. New York took care of Boston with no
trouble in the bottom of the 11th.
Brown(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 3 innings. Sam
Streeter(3-3) was tagged with the loss in relief. He gave up 3 runs in 2
innings of work.

The Kansas City Cattle Barons edged the Nashville Commodores at Martin Park by
the score of 6 to 5.
Kansas City jumped on top of Nashville in the top of the 2nd inning when they
scored 2 runs on 2 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Frank Warfield
who disappointed the partisan crowd when he delivered a single plating two
runs. Kansas City totaled 10 hits on the night.
The winning pitcher was Juan Marichal(5-1) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings.
Rollie Fingers earned the save, his 9th. Nip Winters(2-4) was the loser.

Dizzy Dean whiffed 10 batters as the Detroit Model Ts defeated the St. Louis
River Captains by a score of 3 to 0 at Terrapin Park.
Dean(3-5) simply dominated St. Louis. He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 5 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Detroit finished with 7 hits in the
victory.
Bill Holland(2-4) absorbed the loss. He pitched 8 innings allowing 7 hits and
3 walks. Dean, when asked about his 10 strikeout performance noted, 'The
important thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we lose, what good does it do
our team? But, on the other hand, since we won it feels great!'

In a two run game the Chicago White Bears got by the Cincinnati Beergardeners
by the score of 4 to 2.
Dizzy Dismukes(1-0) was solid in relief, and he got credit for the win. He
surrendered no hits and 1 walk in 1 and 1/3 innings improving his ERA from
4.34 to 4.05. Cincinnati went down quietly in the 9th.
Willie Powell(3-3) was the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 1 inning and
surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk.
