Trade Notice


The Continental League President's Office announced today that the Cincinnati Beergardners had arranged to trade Orlando Cepeda to the Nashville Commodores for Carl Yastrzemski.

Walter Johnson completed the game without help from the bullpen as the
Philadelphia Liberty defeated the Pittsburgh Grays by the score of 6 to 1 at
Forbes Field.
 
Pittsburgh was unable to claim the lead after Philadelphia went ahead in the
top of the 7th inning as they scored 2 runs on 3 base hits.  Philadelphia had
13 hits for the night.  
 
The win went to Johnson(4-1) who allowed 1 run in the game. The loss was
charged to Bill Byrd(3-3).  He pitched 7 innings allowing 8 hits and 2 walks.

One run was the difference at Dodger Stadium as the New Orleans Jazz Kings
defeated the Washington Senators in 10 innings 2 to 1.
 
The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings.  New Orleans came out on
top in the 10th inning.  Louis Santop lined a single.  Freddy Lindstrom came
to the plate and stroked a one-base hit.  Roger Bresnahan then laid down a
sacrifice bunt.  Neil Robinson followed and he was walked intentionally to
load the bases.  Goose Goslin stepped into the box and smacked a single
giving New Orleans the victory as 46,652 happy fans celebrated wildly.  New
Orleans out-hit Washington for the game, 10 hits to 3.  
 
Dave Brown(2-1) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. The losing pitcher
was Chief Bender(0-2) in relief.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings giving up 3
hits and 1 walk.

Frank Robinson had 2 base hits as the New York Knights beat the Boston
Pilgrims by a score of 5 to 4.
 
Ferguson Jenkins(2-4) got the win but did not look spectacular.  He gave up 4
runs, 13 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 1/3 innings.  Boston threatened in the 9th
but their rally came up short.  
 
Three Finger Brown was credited with his 3rd save.  Sam Streeter(3-2) was hit
with the loss in relief.  'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said Boston's manager
'but it's losing the close ones that really hurt.'
