Game Stories for the Federal League for April 8th
Both the Pilgrims and Grays managed to eke out victories to avoid being swept, while the Knights managed to win another extra inning walk off to create a 3 way tie for first after the opening series of games. Mule Suttles opened big for New York with two home runs, but in the end it was Double Duty Radcliffe's pinch hit walk off in the 12th that set the crowd wild in New York. Meanwhile, the Grays fought for a win in the later innings to avoid the sweep in New Orleans. Two players, Jimmie Foxx (Grays) and Bill Monroe (Pilgrims) suffered injuries that will keep them out of action for the next two weeks.
