Game Stories for the Federal League for April 7th

Walter Johnson made his long awaited debut, and evidence of jitters were evidenced when he hit Willie Mays in the head in the first inning, sending Mays to the hospital.  Johnson settled down, though, and provided an overwhelming performance for the 2-0 Liberty, striking out 11 Pilgrims.  Mays is expected to miss several weeks, and Johnson left immediately after the game to visit him.  In other news, the New York Knights hit three home runs in a row, but it was not enough against a Washington Senators team determined to even their series at a game apiece.  Finally, Jim Bunning was able to outduel Christy Mathewson 2-0, giving the Jazz Kings their second win over the Homestead Grays.
