20,005 fans watched an exciting game at Rickwood Field. The Kansas City
Cattle Barons topped the Cincinnati Beergardeners by the slimmest of margins,
7 to 6.

The score was knotted at 4 after nine innings. Kansas City was victorious in
the 16th inning. Chuck Klein stroked a single. Hack Wilson was a strikeout
victim, unable to help out. Buck Leonard then delivered a single. Rice then
suprised everyone by stealing home making Kansas City the victors to the
delight of the home town faithful. Despite losing, Cincinnati out-hit Kansas
City 21 to 18.

Leon Day(1-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Amos Rusie(0-1) was
charged with the loss in relief. He gave up 2 hits and 1 walk in 2 and 1/3
innings.

    Was this a double steal with pinch runner Rice on third and Buck Leonard on first going to second? Or a straight steal of home by Rice?

    Do you know what Rice's chances of pulling off the game-winning steal were?

  2. It was actually a missed squeeze bunt attempt. Not sure what the chart would have shown on that one. Rice has an "A" steal and Rusie has a -2 hold if that's helpful.

    Cincinnati is incredibly creating in their ability to pull defeat from the jaws of victory.
