Detroit cruised to an easy win and a 3 game sweep over St. Louis to remain unbeaten and alone in first place. At the other end of the spectrum, the Beergardners won their first game of the season behind a strong pitching performance by Catfish Hunter. Nashville's late rally gave them their second straight win and a 2-1 series victory over Kansas City. Honus Wagner went 5 for 5 to power the surging Commodores.

The Cincinnati Beergardeners toppled the Chicago White Bears by a 5 to 1 score
at Redland Field.
Catfish Hunter(1-1) earned his pay with a solid performance for Cincinnati.
He allowed 4 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings lowering his ERA to 1.88.
Chicago was out-hit by Cincinnati, 11 hits to 6.
Amos Rusie gained credit for his 1st save. Max Manning(0-2) was hit with the
loss. He pitched 6 innings allowing 8 hits and no walks.

Big Bill Foster was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and Mickey Mantle cracked a homer and had 2 RBI at Terrapin
Park where the Detroit Model Ts beat the St. Louis River Captains by the
score of 11 to 3.Detroit had a total of 14 hits for the game.
Foster(2-0) allowed 3 runs on the game. Bill Holland(1-1) was the losing
pitcher. He allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings. It was another victory
for Detroit at Terrapin Park. Now their winning streak stands at 6 games.
