The Washington Senators nipped the Pittsburgh Grays 5 to 4 at Forbes Field in
a hard fought contest.
 
Lefty Grove(2-0) pitched in relief and was credited with the victory.  He
surrendered no hits and 1 walk in 1/3 of an inning.  Pittsburgh went down
quietly in the bottom of the 9th.  
 
Chief Bender earned his 1st save.  Bill Byrd(4-4) was charged with the loss.
He was knocked around by Washington, allowing 12 hits and 4 walks in 8
innings.

At Dodger Stadium the New Orleans Jazz Kings outscored the Philadelphia
Liberty 4 to 1.
 
In the 6th inning New Orleans went on top for good plating an isolated run.
Both teams finished the game with 7 hits.  
 
The victory was credited to Eggie Hensley(4-1) who went 8 innings, allowing 1
run. Chet Brewer recorded his 1st save.  Andy Cooper(6-3) took the loss.  He
allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.
