The Detroit Model Ts nipped the Kansas City Cattle Barons 3 to 2 at Rickwood
Field in a hard fought contest.
Webster McDonald(1-1) pitched well in relief and was credited with the
victory. He gave up just 2 hits and no walks in 2 innings lowering his ERA
to 3.75. Detroit managed only 4 hits on the afternoon.
McDonald got relief help from Bob Lemon who gained credit for his 1st save.
Whitey Ford(3-2) absorbed the loss. He allowed 3 runs and 2 hits in 7
innings.

Rogers Hornsby connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI at Redland Field as
the Cincinnati Beergardeners staged a comeback win over the Nashville
Commodores by the count of 7 to 6.
Cincinnati came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning plating 3 runs
using 4 hits. Travis Jackson led off and he doubled. Superman Pennington
followed next and he doubled. After an out was recorded, Ed Delahanty came
to bat and tripled. Hornsby stepped in and he stroked a single. Cincinnati
banged out 12 hits on the afternoon.
Slim Jones(1-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. John
Donaldson(1-2) was charged with the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 runs
and 4 hits in 1/3 of an inning.
'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Hornsby noted. 'It was
looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it
really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there
at the end!'

Mickey Cochrane recorded 4 RBI with one swing when he ripped a grand slam at
Terrapin Park as the Chicago White Bears beat the St. Louis River Captains in
10 innings 7 to 2.
Both teams had scored 2 runs after nine full innings. Chicago won it in the
10th inning. The crucial at-bat was provided by Cochrane who silenced the
stadium when he caught a hold of a bad pitch for a Grand Slam homerun. St.
Louis was out-hit by Chicago, 11 hits to 4.
Jack Chesbro(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. The
loss was charged to Roosevelt Davis(3-2) in relief. He allowed 4 runs and 2
hits in 1 inning.
