Kid Nichols tossed a complete game and Nap Lajoie had 2 base hits and 4 RBI as
the Washington Senators defeated the Pittsburgh Grays by a score of 7 to 4 at
Forbes Field.

Nichols(2-2) earned his pay with a solid performance for Washington. He went
9 innings surrendering 9 hits and 1 walk. Washington rapped out 15 hits for
the afternoon.

Christy Mathewson(2-4) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 11 hits and 1 walk
in 7 innings.

Earl Averill had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Dodger Stadium as the New Orleans
Jazz Kings beat the Philadelphia Liberty 5 to 2.

New Orleans did all the necessary damage in the 2nd inning when they tallied 5
runs on 6 hits. That early run support was enough for Jim Bunning(3-3) and
New Orleans. New Orleans managed 10 hits in their victory.

Dave Brown was credited with his 3rd save. Andy Cooper(6-2) ended up with the
loss. He allowed 6 hits and 1 walk in 1 and 1/3 innings.

New Orleans now has a record of 18-15. With the loss, Philadelphia has a
record of 5-5 lately, 18-15 overall.

Jimmie Lyons had 3 base hits and Burleigh Grimes pitched a complete game as
the New York Knights beat the Boston Pilgrims by a score of 3 to 1.

New York tallied 2 runs in the 3rd inning. That was all Grimes(2-4) needed.
New York totaled 7 hits on the afternoon.

Eppa Rixey(3-3) ended up with the loss. He surrendered 3 runs and 4 hits in 7
innings.
